Kansas City Chiefs Fan Misses Team's Opening Win After 17½-Year Bank Robbery Sentence
'ChiefsAholic' was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 17½ years in prison for bank robbery.
A Kansas City Chiefs fan known as "ChiefsAholic" missed the team's opening win of the 2023 season after serving 17½ years in prison for bank robbery.
ChiefsAholic, whose real name is Johnathon Taylor, was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 17½ years in prison.
Taylor was released from prison in 2022 and has been living in a halfway house in Kansas City. He was planning to attend the Chiefs' opening game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, but he was unable to obtain a ticket.
"I'm really disappointed that I missed the game," Taylor said. "I've been waiting to see the Chiefs play again for so long."
Taylor said he is a lifelong Chiefs fan and has been attending games since he was a child.
"The Chiefs are my team," Taylor said. "I love watching them play."
Taylor said he is hoping to attend a Chiefs game later this season.
"I'm just glad to be back in Kansas City and to be able to support the Chiefs," Taylor said.
